I have used 43 Poly Enamel with strawberry sauce and it's sounded like shit so I went to Rewe and bought some Beers.
HBG | Humbuckers
The HBG's (HUMBUCKER GLETTY)
are finally done. You have no idea how many sizes, flatwork thickness, wiring, in series/paralel and different constructions I've tried. I'll make a video about this somewhen just to show you the level of nerding I went through to get those out. "But it looks like a Wide Range Humbucker like some other dudes have already done?!!??!!" Nope little hater, it's a bit more complicated than that. AlNiCo rod magnet lenght has a huge impact on how the magnetic field is gonna pick the strings up. I've tried 12mm, 14mm, 16mm and 18mm long magnets and it does have an effect on the Tone. The longer the magnet and the brighter the tone will be. BUT if you take A250K, A500K or 1M pot it will also change everything and the 18mm long magnet paired with a 250K pot will not sound as heavy and balanced as a 14mm paired with a 1M pot. Or? Then come some more, I have tested those magnet lenght with 42AWG or 43AWG Plain Enamel and Poly Nylon coils ... My brain = ERROR 404 + Windows shut down.
Their will be a lot of different versions of the HBG because I haven't tried everything yet but I've covered enough to have an orientation of what sounds the best with my aluminium necks and to me the wining combo is: It depends of what you need.
PRICES:
NECK + BRIDGE: 350€
NECK or BRIDGE: 180€
HBG's ARE OVERSIZED AND DON'T FIT STANDARD HUMBUCKER PICKGUARD POCKET. YOU'LL HAVE TO MAKE A CUSTOM PICKGUARD FOR IT. I GIVE A 2D 1:1 MOUNTING PLAN WHEN YOU ORDER ONE.
Very first HBG bridge pickup mounted on the one and unique ALU-SG MKIII that I want to keep but I can't because I need to prove the bank I make enough money so I can finally have debt for the the next twenty years.
